Disaster-Based Out-of-School Learning Experiences Project for Graduate Students Successfully Implemented
The "Disaster-Based Out-of-School Learning Experiences for Graduate Students" Project, which is supported by TUBITAK 2237 A Scientific Education Activities Support Program, was held between July 2-7.

Within the scope of the project coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Volkan Hasan KAYA, application-based disaster training was carried out with an interdisciplinary approach to minimize the negative effects of natural disasters such as earthquakes for 26 graduate students within a 5-day program, 3 days online and 2 days face-to-face. The program started with the panels "Overview of Natural Disasters" and "Earthquakes from the Perspective of Geography and Science" and theoretical trainings such as the importance of disaster education, first aid after disaster, out-of-school learning environments, interdisciplinary teaching, comparison of formal, informal and non-formal education methodologies were provided to increase the general knowledge of the participants. Following the theoretical trainings, the learning experience was enriched through practical trainings on exemplary behaviors before, during and after the earthquake. At the end of the program, certificates were presented to the participants.

With the project, it is aimed to provide disaster education to young researchers (participating young people) who are receiving postgraduate education in the field of teacher education, as well as to gain the skills to design and implement out-of-school learning activities with an interdisciplinary approach in the context of disaster education.
