A Peaceful Conflict Resolution Model is Being Developed on University Campuses with Support from TÜBİTAK 1001
The project titled “Analysis of Conflict Management in University Campuses and Development of a Mediation-Based Sustainable Institutional Solution Model” by Prof. Dr. Yeliz BOZKURT GÜMRÜKÇÜOĞLU, an academic at our University's Faculty of Law, has been awarded funding under the 1001 Program 2025/1 call coordinated by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey's Research Support Programs Presidency (TÜBİTAK ARDEB).

Within the scope of the project, the causes and parties involved in conflicts on university campuses were analyzed, the adequacy of existing solution methods was evaluated, and based on the data obtained, the project focused on developing a sustainable and participatory solution model based on mediation with the aim of offering a constructive and lasting approach to conflicts.

The project team includes researchers Assist. Prof. Gülnihal Ahter YAKACAK, Assoc. Prof. Sezercan BEKTAŞ, Assist. Prof. Cansu KORKMAZ, Assist. Prof. Mehmet Akın BULUT, and Assist. Prof. Ömer Faruk KAFALI. In addition, Prof. Dr. Abbas TÜRNÜKLÜ and Prof. Dr. Ali YEŞİLIRMAK are contributing to the project as advisors.

This project aims to increase the institutional applicability of constructive and sustainable conflict resolution methods in university campuses, thereby contributing to the development of a more inclusive, participatory, and peaceful communication culture in higher education environments. It is anticipated that the model to be developed will enable effective management of conflicts across universities nationwide, enhance institutional belonging and satisfaction levels, and provide a benchmark application framework for decision-making mechanisms.
