Faculty Member Dr. Serdal Tümkaya Accepted to a Working Group of the COST KGELL Action
The Working Group application of Dr. Serdal TÜMKAYA, faculty member at the Department of Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence, School of the Humanities and Social Sciences, submitted under the COST Action “CA24121 – Knowledge Graphs in the Era of Large Language Models (KGELL)”, has been accepted by the Action’s Management Committee.

Funded by the European Union, the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Programme is widely regarded as one of Europe’s longest-standing research cooperation mechanisms, bringing together researchers from different countries in joint research networks to foster knowledge sharing, academic mobility and interdisciplinary work. Running from 2026 to 2029, the KGELL Action focuses on one of the most pressing issues in artificial intelligence today: the integration of large language models (LLMs) with knowledge graphs. Within the Action, topics such as improving the performance of large language models in domain-specific tasks, reducing bias and the generation of inaccurate information known as “hallucinations”, and making model outputs more transparent and interpretable are being addressed. Comprising six working groups that focus on areas such as multilinguality, bias and ethics, and evaluation and validation frameworks, the Action brings together researchers from many European countries in a shared network.

Taking part in COST working groups offers valuable opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across Europe, share knowledge and experience, and prepare future international project applications. Dr. Serdal Tümkaya’s inclusion in this network enables him to contribute to the field of artificial intelligence from a philosophical and interdisciplinary perspective, while also strengthening Ibn Haldun University’s visibility in international research networks.

As the Project Support Office, we remain committed to supporting our researchers in participating in similar initiatives, joining working groups, and engaging with international research networks. We sincerely congratulate Dr. Serdal TÜMKAYA on this significant achievement and wish him continued success in his academic and research endeavors.
