Our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, Accepted into the COST HARPA Action Working Group

With the participation of our Vice Rector in the Action, which previously welcomed our Faculty of Law member, Asst. Prof. Gülnihal Ahter YAKACAK, our University's academic representation within this international research network has been further strengthened.
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence technologies and the increasing processing of personal data have introduced new challenges concerning privacy protection. HARPA brings together researchers from law, computer science, psychology, and human-computer interaction to address these challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration. The Action aims to mitigate privacy risks arising from the use of artificial intelligence and develop practical, human-centered protection mechanisms. In this context, it seeks to establish common approaches to privacy protection, raise public awareness, and promote the consideration of fundamental rights in the design of AI systems. The Action's activities are organized through four working groups focusing on empowering users to make informed privacy decisions, training professionals, evaluating privacy practices in AI development and deployment, and coordination and dissemination.
The EU-supported COST Programme provides participants with opportunities to collaborate with experts from different countries, exchange knowledge and experience, and develop new international research project ideas. The participation of two academics from our University in the same Action represents a valuable contribution to strengthening international academic cooperation and advancing interdisciplinary research.
As the Project Support Office, we will continue to provide guidance throughout the application process to support our academics' active participation in international research networks and strengthen international collaborations. We congratulate our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Yeliz BOZKURT GÜMRÜKÇÜOĞLU, on this significant achievement, which contributes to our University's international academic visibility and cooperation, and wish her continued success in her work within HARPA.
