The PeerMed4Youth project brings together five institutions from Türkiye, France, Belgium, and Spain, with Ibn Haldun University serving as the coordinating institution. The project partners also include the Civil Life Association, Station de Jeunesse, Sociaal Project Limburgse Voetbalacademie, and Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera. Coordinated by our Vice Rector, Prof. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, the project team also includes Prof. Ali Yeşilırmak, Dr. Gülnihal Ahter Yakacak, Dr. Mehmet Akın Bulut, Hüsna Kübra Karadağ and Gülcan Güven Yeşilgül.
Aiming to strengthen young people’s conflict resolution skills, intercultural dialogue, and social cohesion, the project will be implemented over 24 months with a budget of EUR 250,000. Within the scope of the project, the needs of young people will be identified; a common European Peer Mediation Model, a competence-based training curriculum, and practical tools will be developed; and the resulting materials will be tested through international training activities and national pilot implementations. In addition, a Digital Learning Platform featuring e-learning modules, video content, and practical materials will be created, with a particular focus on developing young people’s skills in active listening, empathy, dialogue, negotiation, and consensus-building.
The PeerMed4Youth project is expected to contribute to the wider use of peer mediation in youth and educational settings and to strengthen the social participation of young people, particularly those with migrant backgrounds, members of minority groups, and disadvantaged youth. The project is also expected to enhance our University’s international academic collaborations in the fields of mediation, dispute resolution, and youth studies.
